Breathwork, Fragrance and Connection: Hosting a 3 Day Sensory Experience in London
I have just spent three brilliant days in central London with the team at The Perfume Shop, hosting a series of breathwork, mindful movement and sensory sessions to celebrate National Fragrance Week.
It was such a pleasure to be invited to curate and deliver this experience, working with fragrance to guide guests through a journey of energy, focus and calm.
The sessions were designed to offer people a moment to pause within the pace of the day, creating space to slow down, reconnect and experience fragrance in a more mindful and sensory way.

A Three Day Experience
This was a three day event, each day bringing a slightly different audience and energy.
Day one welcomed press, content creators and influencers, while days two and three were open to the public, creating a really diverse and dynamic mix of people. We welcomed individuals, couples, friends, mums and daughters, mums and sons, and dads with sons, people from all backgrounds, with different levels of experience and comfort in this kind of setting.
That diversity is something I always love. It brings a richness to the sessions and a reminder that these practices are for everyone.
The Scent Sanctuary Experience
The Perfume Shop created three distinct zones within the Scent Sanctuary, energy, focus and calm, each designed to explore how fragrance can support different emotional states.
Each zone was anchored by a fragrance. Prada Paradoxe Eau de Parfum and Yves Saint Laurent Libre Eau de Parfum within the energy space, Lancôme La Vie Est Belle Eau de Parfum within focus, and Prada Luna Rossa Ocean Eau de Parfum within the calm space.
Before joining my session, guests had time to move through these zones, experience the fragrances and begin to connect scent with mood, memory and feeling. My session then built on this experience, bringing breath, movement and sensory awareness together to deepen that connection.
What We Covered in Each Session
Each session was designed as a gentle, guided journey through three states, energy, focus and calm.
Before moving into the different zones, we began with a conversation. We spoke about the pace of modern life, the overstimulation, the constant noise, the rushing, the multitasking, and how rarely we give ourselves time to simply be still and notice how we actually feel. We talked about how easy it is to move through the day without checking in with the body, and the importance of creating small moments to pause, slow down and reconnect.
From there, we introduced the idea of simple routines and rituals, encouraging people to take small moments throughout the day to notice, breathe and become more aware of their internal state.
We then created space to arrive, simply noticing the body and becoming aware of the breath, allowing it to settle into a steady, natural rhythm.
We also discussed the senses, and how fragrance can help bring us into the present moment. By slowing down the experience, adding awareness and gentle self touch, even something as familiar as applying fragrance can become a moment of connection, grounding and stillness.
From here, we moved into the three zones.
Energy
We moved into the energy zone by shaking the body and using exaggerated sighs to release tension and let go of the day. From there, we flowed through a series of gentle stretches and energising breath techniques, helping people shift out of the pace of the day and into a more open, awake and present state.
Focus
From there, we moved into focus, which was a lighter, more playful part of the session. We explored balancing postures that challenged us all in different ways, creating a lot of laughter, wobbling and shared moments of connection across the room. We then introduced a slower, more controlled breath technique to support concentration and bring attention inward.
From there, we moved into a more sensory experience using Lancôme La Vie Est Belle Eau de Parfum, slowing everything down through touch, scent and breath. Guests applied fragrance to the wrists, taking time to notice the sensation, breathe it in and fully experience the moment.
From this place of focus, they were invited to write down words or intentions, something they would like to bring more attention to in their lives.
Calm
Finally, we moved into calm.
Guests were invited to lie down, creating a moment to fully pause and be still. We moved through a slower breath technique designed to support relaxation and improve sleep, allowing the body and mind to soften. We closed with a gentle stretch and one final breath, returning to the intention set earlier in the session and taking that feeling forward into the rest of the day.
People left noticeably more relaxed, more connected and more aware of their breath and body.
23 Sessions, 3 Days
Across the three days, I hosted 23 sessions. It was full, energising and at times intense, but I loved every moment of it.
What stood out most was noticing how each group responded differently. The pace, the openness, the interaction, everything shifted depending on the room. Some groups were immediately engaged, others more reserved at first, but what remained consistent was the shift by the end of each session. People left in a very different place to how they arrived, calmer, more present and more connected.
Inclusive Experiences and Learning
Over the course of the three days, I also had a number of people join the sessions who had disabilities, including loss of sight and hearing.
This was not something I was aware of ahead of the event, but it gave me a really valuable opportunity to pause, adapt and think more deeply about how I deliver these experiences, ensuring everyone could get the most from them. It made me reflect on how different people experience breath, movement, scent and stillness, and how important it is to create spaces that feel accessible, supportive and inclusive.
I was able to spend time with these attendees across the three days, and this became one of the most meaningful parts of the experience for me. It encouraged me to learn, grow and approach my work with even more awareness and care.
Alongside this, the feedback I received from people as they left the sessions was incredibly special, and something I will carry with me.
Working with Brands and Community
I love working in collaboration with brands, teams and communities to create thoughtful, meaningful experiences.
The team at The Perfume Shopwere fantastic to work with, alongside the Malven team who helped bring the experience to life so seamlessly.
A really special part of the event was hosting a session with the team and ambassadors from Look Good Feel Better, with proceeds from the event also supporting Alzheimer’s research.
It was an honour to be part of something that not only created moments of wellbeing, but also supported such important causes.
